Mr. Jerry A. Grundhofer serves as an Independent Director of Ecolab Inc. He is Chairman Emeritus and retired Chairman of the Board of U.S. Bancorp, a financial services holding company. Following an extensive career in the commercial banking industry, including serving as Vice Chairman of the Board of BankAmerica Corporationrationration, Mr. Grundhofer joined Star Banc Corporationrationration as President and Chief Executive Officer in 1993, assuming the Chairman post later that year. In November 1998, Star Banc acquired Firstar Corporationrationration and he assumed the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of Firstar Corporationrationration. In 2001, following a merger of Firstar Corporationrationration and U.S. Bancorp, Mr. Grundhofer was named President and Chief Executive Officer of U.S. Bancorp and added the position of Chairman of the Board in 2003. Mr. Grundhofer retired as CEO in 2006, and as Chairman of the Board in December 2007.
