She holds a BS degree in engineering science and mechanics from Virginia Tech, and MS and PhD degrees in mechanical engineering from MIT. Dean Boyces research focuses on materials and mechanics, particularly in the areas of multiscale and nonlinear mechanics of polymers and soft composites, and her work was documented in over 170 archival journal articles spanning materials, mechanics, and physics.
