He is a past Director of First Niagara Financial Group Inc. a multistate communityoriented bank providing financial services to individuals families and businesses where he served from 2007 through 2014. He is a retired President of The John R. Oishei Foundation the largest private foundation in Western New York where he served from 1998 through 2006. Prior to that he was with Price Waterhouse for 33 years including 20 years as a partner and several years as Managing Partner of the Buffalo office

Baker also served as the Chairman of the Buffalo Fiscal Stability Authority from July 2003 through January 2005.
